Families relocating within the Park Cities should verify whether a specific address remains in the same elementary attendance area after the move.
Attendance boundaries matter more than distance
A nearby home is not automatically assigned to the nearest HPISD campus. Highland Park ISD serves Highland Park, University Park and a small part of North Dallas, and elementary assignments are address-specific. Always verify the exact property address with the district before treating a school assignment as part of a purchase or lease decision.
Moving during the school year
For a mid-year or summer transition, build the move plan around school dates as well as the closing date. Keep devices, uniforms, medications, records and the first week of school essentials separate from the main shipment. If the destination is a high-rise or apartment, add elevator and loading reservations to the same calendar.
